Among the detainees referred to by Foro Penal, we can mention Simón Vargas, former mayor of the Bolívar municipality, who was arrested on January 2. In this case, former governor Cesar Pérez Vivas would have assured that a group of armed men would have taken the leader from his residence.

After his arrest, a poster was disseminated disclosing the alleged crimes that Vargas is accused of: Terrorism, incitement to hatred, grouping, personal injuries and resistance to authority.

Another of the arrests registered by the NGO is that of two women, relatives of the former student leader Zuleika Meneses, who reported through her social networks that her aunt Miriam Gómez and her cousin Alaina Rangel, were taken from their home in Palo Gordo, Cárdenas municipality, by police officials.

According to Meneses, the uniformed officers entered his home “without a search warrant or an arrest warrant.”
